We work closely with our Engineering Development department, but also work closely with our Production, Production Support, Purchasing, Compliance and Quality Assurance departments. Also, there is a requirement to provide support for Sales and Service.Much of our work is reactive to deal with day-to-day issues encountered on the production assembly lines, alternative part sourcing and approving, and general modelling and drawing updates.On the proactive side, ownership of each of the Man Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) models is the responsibility of the engineers within the Product Support team. Key parts of this aspect are maintaining the top-level assembly models within Creo and maintaining the Technical approval files to ensure they are always up to date. We are also heavily involved in bigger projects within our own department and supporting engineering development projects.The Engineering department is located in Milton Keynes, Niftylift headquarters and the Product Support department is situated adjacent to the engineering Development department and overlooks the assembly production lines.Relationships:Responsible to Senior Product Support EngineerLiaison at all levels across the following departments: Development, Product Design, Production, Production Support, Compliance, Purchasing, Quality, Sales and ServiceKey areas of responsibility and the deliverables expected:Assist the Product support team with day-to-day tasksInvestigate and understand problems encountered through shadowing stakeholder meetings and via the EIR and Engineering Change Control processesCollate investigated information into a format which enables findings to be easily communicated \/ presentedCarry out model \/ drawing changes and develop basic skills in drafting, modelling & detailingDesign solutions at part and sub assembly levels under guidance of more senior engineersMain tasks:Daily support for existing MEWP products in productionTo action Engineering change requestsAssist with problem solving and requests, which have been raised at Stakeholder team meetings and from customer feedback for existing products, and support the Engineering and Production departments to implement the solutions.Provide technical support for Quality and Purchasing departmentsPrepare CAD\/manage models in Creo under guidance of more senior engineersModify and produce drawings within AutoCAD and Creo to BS8888 under guidance of more senior engineers.Observe the operation of first off production builds and provide feedback to interested partiesProduce process documentation and work instruction to support introduction of new designs\/customer options under guidance of more senior engineersWork safely to standard operating proceduresMaintain high standards of workplace organisation and cleanlinessQualifications \/ experienceWorking towards an Engineering degree.Experience\/interests in the following areas would be advantageous for this roll:Vehicle\/Off-road vehicle designPractical experience with vehicle maintenanceExposure to \/ experience with CAD softwareTo have an appreciation of control systems, structural design, hydraulics, packaging and recognise the importance of good product qualityNifty MPDSIn the longer term, the Nifty MPDS is open to Undergraduates and GraduatesThe Niftylift Monitored Professional Development Scheme (Nifty MPDS) is a structured training programme to develop well-rounded professional engineers who can design safe and efficient products, run projects, and manage teams in industry.
