What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of Science (with a specialism in Chemistry) to start in May/June 2025. This is a temporary role to cover the duration of a maternity leave within the faculty.
What the school offers its staff
Allestree Woodlands School is a popular and successful 11-18 school, providing high quality education for 1420 students (200+ in the sixth form). The school is situated on the northern edge of the city of Derby in a very pleasant setting overlooking the Kedleston Hall National Trust estate. We work as a great team together and are committed to the continuing professional development of all colleagues.
The successful candidate will join our ambitious and improving Science Faculty which comprises Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Science. Success at GCSE is good, as is uptake into A level, with usually at least two classes per subject specialism normally entering Year 12. Many of our students go on to study science related degrees. Our aspiration is for the provision of A level to continue to grow as our results continue to improve. We are also proud of our track record in extracurricular activities (such as rocket club, the Chemistry and Physics Olympiads etc).
We offer a warm and friendly school where teachers and students have positive working relationships. All our staff benefit from Health and Wellbeing services including GP access, physiotherapy, counselling and menopause support.
