Job Summary
Specialist Pharmacist Tunbridge Wells Hospital | Pharmacy | Permanent | Full Time Up to £52,500.00 per annum, depending on skills and experience 37.5 hours per week
Main Duties of the Job
As a Specialist Pharmacist, you will:
1. Deliver a high-quality clinical pharmacy service within Nuffield Health Hospital Tunbridge Wells to oncology, haemato-oncology and elective surgical patients, in line with current government, NICE and BOPA guidelines.
2. Undertake medicines reconciliation, organise discharge medications, provide drug information and clinical counselling of patients.
3. Maintain pharmaceutical care plans for all oncology and haemato-oncology patients.
4. Verify and screen SACT treatment prescriptions, inpatient prescription charts, discharge and outpatient prescriptions.
5. Support and advise our clinicians on safe prescribing within oncology, haemato-oncology and peri-operative medicine.
6. Coordinate the administration and delivery of SACT treatments to patients, maintaining effective communication with the Pharmacy dispensary.
7. Develop protocols and guidelines for SACT treatment.
8. Order SACT in readiness for patient treatment.
9. Educate and train colleagues in support of their development with oncology competencies.
10. Liaise with other Nuffield Hospital oncology sites to share knowledge and expertise.
11. Attend meetings with pharmacy and other oncology leads within the Nuffield Health group on a regular basis, implementing changes to policy and procedure locally.
Skills & Experience:
1. UK Registered Pharmacist with General Pharmaceutical Council (Essential).
2. At least 4-5 years of post-qualification experience.
3. Experience of supervising and training other staff.
4. Post-qualification experience within oncology and haemato-oncology and the ability to screen and verify oncology and haemato-oncology regimes and prescriptions (Essential).
5. Post-qualification experience in the provision of a ward-based clinical pharmacy service is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
6. Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures.
7. Excellent communication and people skills. This is essential as you will be working closely with patients as well as a variety of clinical staff.
Oncology experience is essential for this role, and further training within this clinical speciality will be encouraged and supported.
