Axcis Education are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEND school, who are searching for cover teachers to join their team on a part-time basis. This would be a flexible position based on your own availability and the school’s needs. There is potential for a hybrid role, where the successful applicant provides a mix of teaching and TA cover. There are excellent facilities onsite, including a wide range of sensory rooms, hydrotherapy, a 4D sensory studio, and lots of outdoor space for pupils to utilise.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare, and deliver individualized lessons and learning activities in accordance with each student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
2. Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that caters to the unique needs of students with ASD, PMLD, SLD, and complex medical needs.
3. Assess and monitor student progress, adapting teaching strategies and interventions as necessary.
4. Work closely with colleagues, parents, carers, and external agencies to support student development and well-being.
5. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure holistic support for students.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, ideally with a specialization in SEND education. Though the school is also happy to consider applicants from mainstream backgrounds.
2. A child and adult DBS on the update service (if you do not have one, Axcis will help you apply for a new one).
3. Proven experience in teaching students with SEND, particularly those with ASD, PMLD, SLD, and complex medical needs.
4. Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children with SEND.
