Kingswell Surgery, Penistone is looking for a part-time receptionist to join our small and friendly training practice for up to 16 hours per week. The ideal candidate should be a reliable, motivated, team player with good telephone and communication skills. We are open from 7.45 am until 6.30 pm and flexibility is essential as you will be required to work between these hours to meet the needs of the business and cover colleagues when required. Experience of working in a GP surgery is preferred; however, full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
You will form part of our friendly but hard-working reception team, providing a professional, efficient and effective reception service to patients and health professionals alike. Confidentiality is an essential part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
1. Make, amend and cancel clinical appointments for patients using the Systm1 clinical system.
2. Care navigate patients to the most appropriate health professional/service when booking appointments.
3. Deal with and record accurate messages from clinicians and patients.

Our Clinical Team
Our clinical team is made up of the following: 3 GP Partners, 2 salaried GPs, 1 Practice Nurse, 2 HCAs. Our Admin team comprises of: Practice Manager, 2 Administrators, 4 Receptionists, and 3 dispensers. We also have a number of staff in other funded roles who work at the practice, such as a care coordinator, health and wellbeing coach, clinical pharmacist, etc.
Job Responsibilities
Administration
* To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
* To work in accordance with written protocols.
* Photocopy as requested.
Reception
* Receiving patients, consulting with the practice team.
* Answer telephone calls in a professional manner, dealing with enquiries via telephone and face-to-face.
* Taking home visit requests.
* Take accurate messages and relay to the appropriate person via email/other.
* Telephone for results and information from outside agencies, i.e. hospitals, GP surgeries, Health Centres.
* Data input and retrieval via computer system.
* Be able to cover all reception duties as necessary.
Computer:
* Process patient change of details.
* Booking, cancelling and changing appointments.
Other tasks:
* Ensure building security.
* Maintain supplies of stationery in reception and consulting rooms.
* Keep workplace organised and tidy.
* Clear consulting rooms when possible and tidy waiting room.
* Any other tasks allocated by management.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in a GP practice.
* Experience of working on EMIS WEB.
