SEN Teaching Assistant 1 to 1 Barnet Primary School Full Time Start Date: November 2024 We are currently recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Special Educational Needs in a primary school from November. The Role In this role you will be supporting a child in Year 4 on a 1 to 1 basis with a diagnosis of Autism and challenging behaviour. You will work closely with the SENCO and class teacher to deliver an adapted curriculum has to meet the child’s needs as they are working below age related expectations. The child enjoys physical movement breaks and games in between learning tasks. The child can display challenging behaviours (throwing/hitting/spitting) and will require support to manage their emotions and actions in school. The school are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who has the following: Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs. Previous experience in managing behaviours that challenge and a willingness to be trained in any child-specific strategies Physically fit to be able to lead activities Professional and discreet approach Caring and kind nature Training in Team Teach or de-escalation would be preferable although not essential.
