We are recruiting Relief Support Workers to work alongside our core care teams across InFocus campus to provide the very best person-centred care to the fabulous young people who access our services. We rely on our relief staff to cover vacancy gaps, holidays and other absences.
InFocus supports a large number of young people aged between 16 and 35, with vision impairment and complex sensory, physical and emotional needs. We provide hours of education, interventions to support vision impairment, mobility and habilitation training, a range of therapies, employability support, help with Braille and Access Technology and so much more. We have dedicated nursing, healthcare and care staff onsite 24/7.

You will be under no obligation to accept shifts that do not fit in with your commitments; however, we are looking for individuals who are able to commit to working at least 8 days per month. You must be willing to embrace all aspects of the Relief Support Worker role including, but not limited to, providing support with personal care, domestic tasks, and supporting individuals to access work, education and social opportunities. We value the personal skills and interests you bring to the role and to the lives of our young people, such as sports, outdoor pursuits, creative arts, music and cooking to name but a few. We will do our best to work with you and offer you shifts that suit your personal circumstances. We have various shifts often requiring cover, including daytime, evening, weekends and nights.

We don’t mind if you haven’t worked in a care setting before; we provide the support you need to do your job well. We deliver relevant training sessions onsite so that you can keep up to date with training. We will support you to achieve the care certificate, which means that you’ll receive the skills, knowledge and behaviours you need to provide compassionate, safe and high-quality care.
Working pattern
You can choose to pick up shifts in any of our care provisions at InFocus. We have included some information below of the areas where we need your support. Shifts will be agreed in advance so you can forward plan and get a good work-life balance.
Relief Waking Nights Support Worker
Are you a night owl? You could assist our waking nights team to support our young people working across the residential houses on campus. You will need to be awake throughout the night to support individuals as required.
The support hours for waking nights are 22.00 – 08.00 Monday to Sunday, with a midweek hourly of £13.96-£14.36 and weekend hourly rate of £18.16-£18.66 (inclusive of holiday pay).
Relief St David’s House Support Worker
There is opportunity to support young adults aged 21-36 in St David’s House, which comprises of three lodges. Our residents have bespoke care packages and enrichment programmes that support independence. So, retail therapy, a bite to eat down the pub, or a leisurely walk along the beach will definitely be on the list of things to do.
The support hours for St David’s House are on a shift basis between 07.00 – 23.00 Monday to Sunday, with a midweek hourly rate of £13.63-£14.01 and weekend hourly rate of £17.21-£18.21 (inclusive of holiday pay).
Relief College Learning Support Worker
You can cover shifts in our InFocus College where you will be supporting young people aged 16-25 to access the InFocus College Curriculum which has been specially designed to support progression for young people with a vision impairment and complex needs.
The support hours for college are 08.45 until 16.30 Monday to Friday, with a midweek hourly rate of £13.63-£14.01 (inclusive of holiday pay).
Relief College Residential Support Worker
You can help our core staff team support our young people within our Life and Living Skills Programme and Residential College service. Each young person has a clear, personalised living skills, accessing community support programme to fully prepare people for their next step, whatever that may be. This could include you supporting the young person to visit new services to support choice and control about transition and where the person would like to live.
The support hours for College Residential are 07.00 – 16.30 Monday to Friday and 08.00-22.30 Saturday and Sunday, with a midweek hourly rate of £13.63-£14.01 and weekend hourly rate of £17.21-£18.21 (inclusive of holiday pay).
