As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with students who require additional support to thrive in their learning. Whether you’re an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or looking to start your career in education, we would love to hear from you As a valued SEN Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support students with a range of special educational needs (SEN) in both small group settings and on a one-to-one basis. You will help students access the curriculum, promote positive learning behaviours, and ensure they feel safe, engaged, and confident in the classroom. Working alongside teachers and the SENCO, you will help implement tailored learning strategies to meet the individual needs of each student. You’ll assist with classroom management, help with personal care where necessary, and provide students with the tools they need to succeed both academically and socially. Key Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant: Support students with SEN in accessing lessons and participating in classroom activities. Assist in the creation and delivery of tailored individual learning plans (ILPs). Help with personal care and mobility as needed, ensuring students feel comfortable and supported throughout the school day. Encourage positive behaviour and social development, helping students to develop both academically and emotionally. Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to track and monitor student progress, adjusting support strategies where necessary. Foster a caring, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and motivated to engage. What We’re Looking For: Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs is desirable but not essential. A patient, empathetic, and caring approach when working with children who have diverse needs. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of professionals. A flexible, proactive attitude, and the ability to work well under pressure. A passion for helping students achieve their best and become confident, independent learners. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures is essential.
