AM2PM are recruiting for our well-established Client based in Solihull. As the Operations Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the Birmingham Controls operation based in Solihull, ensuring all customer orders are fulfilled, health and safety standards are maintained, and performance metrics are consistently met. You will drive a culture of continuous improvement while being the primary point of contact for day-to-day activities with the customer on-site.
Essential Experience and Skills:
* Education & Qualifications:
* Secondary level education
* Driving license
* Counterbalance forklift license
* Further or higher education in a business-related discipline (desirable)
* Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in operations management
* Strong background in logistics
* Experience working with trade union representatives and shop stewards
* Familiarity with 3PL (third-party logistics) environments
* Previous experience in a customer-facing role
* Knowledge of aerospace and defence sectors (desirable)
* Experience with LEAN methodologies (desirable)
* Specialist Knowledge & Skills:
* Leadership and project management skills
* Understanding of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
* Excellent people management and team-working abilities
* Ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
* Strong analytical skills for producing clear reports based on data
* High level of numeracy and proficient PC skills (Word, Excel)

Key Responsibilities:
* Allocate work fairly to all employees under your responsibility, ensuring operational requirements are met.

* Monitor, record, and take action on issues such as lateness and absenteeism within your authority.

* Monitor and develop training needs, as well as cross-train employees in required job roles.
* Conduct appraisals and monitor the development of team members.
* Oversee the movement of materials throughout the production process in line with service level agreements.
* Manage and control the flow of work into the production facility, aligning with daily operational requirements.
* Comply with health & safety standards and audit requirements, maintaining accurate records.
* Execute relevant SAP transactions and stamp requirements for operational processes.

Additional Information:
* Flexibility in working hours and location is required.
* Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week (5 days on, 2 days off). Weekend work may be required.
* Accountability for the Birmingham Controls operation in Solihull with a focus on improving health and safety culture, maximizing resource efficiency, and meeting customer demands.
Reporting Structure:
* Manager: Regional Operations Manager
* Key Working Relationships:
* Regular communication with site operations (Controllers, Coordinators, Warehouse Operatives, FLT Drivers, Drivers)
* Collaboration with Operations Management for monthly reviews
* Communication with HR for people-related issues
* Regular interaction with the Contract Manager for escalation and routine reviews
