Following the acquisition of Brookson by People2.0 the responsibilities of the Data and Analytics team have grown.
We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL BI Developer with strong expertise in Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake to join our Data and Analytics team. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize BI solutions and data pipelines that support operational and strategic decision-making. Your responsibilities will include leveraging Azure-based tools to integrate, model, and visualize data, ensuring performance, scalability, and security across the BI landscape.
You will also be accountable for leading and mentoring Junior Data Engineers, ensuring the overall effectiveness of the data pipeline and architecture. This position plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organisation, while maintaining close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Our Warrington office (WA1) is easily accessible by car and a 10-minute walk from the nearest train station. We offer hybrid working, with a minimum requirement of 2 days in the office and the flexibility to work from home the rest of the week.
What will you be doing as Senior SQL BI Developer?
Data Integration and Management:
Use Azure Data Factory to design and orchestrate complex data pipelines, integrating data from various source systems into Azure Data Lake.
Data Warehousing:
Leverage Azure Synapse Analytics to design and maintain scalable data warehouses and optimize large-scale data processing and querying. Support of the existing ODS, Data Vault and on-premises DWH
Data Modelling:
Develop and optimize data models for analytical and reporting purposes, ensuring alignment with business needs.
BI Tool Development:
Build advanced, interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI, incorporating robust data models and secure access to on-premises and cloud-based sources.
Performance Optimization:
Monitor and enhance the performance of ETL processes, SQL queries, and reporting solutions to ensure efficiency and reliability.
Data Quality and Governance:
Implement data validation, error handling, and monitoring processes to ensure data integrity and compliance with organizational standards.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
Partner with the Director of Global Data and Analytics and other business leaders to understand requirements and deliver impactful BI solutions.
Mentorship and Leadership:
Provide guidance to junior team members on best practices for Azure-based BI development and data engineering.
What are the qualities that can help you thrive as Senior SQL BI Developer?
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
* Proven experience in designing and developing BI solutions using Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake.
* Advanced SQL skills with expertise in T-SQL for complex querying, transformation, and optimization.
* Experience of SQL Server 2016+, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS.
* Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX and Power Query, for creating dynamic reports and dashboards.
* Strong understanding of ETL processes and data warehouse design concepts.
* Experience with performance tuning of Azure-based data and BI systems.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications:
* Familiarity with additional Azure services, such as Azure SQL Database or Azure Logic Apps.
* Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security in a global environment.
* Experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices in BI development.
