We are now actively looking to recruit a Lighting Technician Mate within ASDA retail stores. JOB PURPOSE: To assist the Lighting Technician with lighting planned maintenance and emergency repair work in designated Asda stores to pre-determined standards whilst complying with the laid down Company Health and Safety policy The Lighting Technician Mate will be working with another colleague and will share a work van, the other colleague lives in North Glasow area Role will involve daily travel, there will be regular overnight stays (1-2 every week) and there may well be occasional night shifts when working on special projects within ASDA stores. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES To assist the Lighting Technician with all aspects of lighting planned maintenance and emergency repair work. In the absence of the Lighting Technician, to respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk, to assess the requirements of the job, to carry out any repairs which he/she is qualified to make and to notify the Lighting technician and the Area Manager of any repairs that he/she cannot complete. All work will be completed to the highest standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the laid-down Company Health and Safety policy. To carry out all tasks assigned within the allotted time period to the satisfaction of the company and client. To be proficient in the use of written and verbal communication, report writing and recording procedures. To attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Professional/Academic/ Vocational Qualifications Essential Recognised electrical qualification 18th Edition Desirable General education GCSE standard Specific Knowledge Essential Electrical - Edition Wiring Regulations Health & Safety for working on Filling Station lighting (City-delivered course) Desirable Basic installation of lighting in stores, e.g. cable glands, conduits, track, light density and spread, cable types and loadings Demonstrated Behaviours Essential Ability to maintain/repair the full range of lighting equipment in an ASDA store to recognised standards, e.g. filament, fluorescent, mercury vapour, sodium, low voltage, car park Ability to maintain/repair high mast columns at ASDA stores to recognised standards (City-organised course) Desirable PC literate Specialist Requirements Essential Good communication skills (written and verbal) Helpful / friendly manner Customer focused Self motivated Ability to work at heights Competent in the use of steps and ladders Able to operate high access equipment Ability to distinguish colours to the standard required for lighting maintenance and repair in buildings Full current driving licence Degree of flexibility required. Will be required to stay away from home occasionally. Willingness to work flexible hours. Night shift may be required. Desirable Class 1 (7.5 tonne) driving licence. IPAF 1b, 3a and 3b.
