About The Role This role provides the opportunity to work collaboratively and collegiately across the Council and with partners to achieve our ambitions and improve people’s lives in B&NES. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and operating as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, this is your opportunity to provide strategic leadership, direction and impact, both internally for a wide portfolio of core enabling and transformational services, and externally across our unique, internationally renowned city and rural areas. Your contribution to the wider organisation will be bold and significant. You will position our teams and services holding critical levers of change and innovation in finance, legal & governance, people & change, and our corporate office, as well as providing leadership to our commercial estate. Your impact will empower your people and teams to be bold, work creatively, harness the power of collaboration and help us build on our strengths to become an outstanding Council. Depending upon your professional background you may serve as the Council’s statutory Chief Financial Officer (Section 151 Officer), or provide leadership and oversight in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer for the financial management of the Council, our wholly owned companies and our regional and partnership arrangements, including the ICB and the Combined Authority. Let’s Talk About You We’re looking for a highly accomplished and experienced leader with a strong track record of managing diverse services within a complex, politically regulated organisation. You’ll have: Proven experience leading large, multifaceted teams at a senior level with a particular focus on corporate enabling services Strong commercial acumen and expertise in financial management to support the Council’s strategic goals. A deep understanding of regulations and legislation relevant to your specialism and the wider public sector.
