Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic registered CT Radiographer to work in close conjunction with the CT Operational Lead Radiographers, CT Modality Lead, and the wider team at our CT unit at Mile End Hospital, which is part of the new Community Diagnostics Centre and the existing Early Diagnosis Centre.
Potential candidates should preferably have at least two years' experience of working within CT and have at least 2 years of post-qualifying experience. Excellent communication and computer skills are essential.
You will be working on a rota basis within the CT team covering 12-hour days, 08:00-20:00, Monday to Sunday.
We will be providing a service to a wide range of cancer, urgent, rheumatology, and routine outpatients across North East of London. In this role, it is essential to have good organisational skills, good working relationships, and be motivated and able to demonstrate how you can motivate others within the team.
Main duties of the job
The aim of this role is to provide high quality, effective Imaging services for the CT department at Mile End Hospital.
The post holder will work closely with other CT radiographers and clinical staff of all grades for safe, prompt, and effective imaging of outpatients.
CT has a crucial role in the provision of primary diagnoses and follow-up in cancer and long-term disabling conditions. Patients may present unconscious, un-cooperative, incapacitated, incompetent, or with physical and mental disabilities. It is necessary to provide empathy and emotional support to the bereaved, terminally ill, injured, and traumatised.

Qualifications
* BSc Radiography or DCR
* Current Health and Care Professions Council registration
* IV cannulations- or willingness to achieve this skill in house
* Post Graduate qualification in CT (or willing to undertake this)
* CT Colon training (or willingness to undertake this)
Experience
* Band 6 radiographer in general and specialised Imaging procedures including CT
* Evidence of CPD, including attendance at relevant short course & study days
* Participation in Quality Assurance / Clinical Governance initiatives.
* Participation in the recruitment and selection process of Band 3 staff
Knowledge
* Portfolio of evidence of continuing professional development
* Understanding of Clinical Governance and Health and Safety
* Aware of new developments in CT
* Some knowledge of wider NHS issues
Skills
* Competent to perform IV injections and cannulation (or willing to undergo training)
* Teaching and training skills with the ability to adapt training and teaching styles in response to needs of the trainee.
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload and delegate when required
* Excellent communication skills and presentation skills
* Effective problem-solving skills
* Good computer skills- including RIS, PACS, and CRS
* Able to communicate with patients in an empathetic manner regarding their treatment and procedures
