A design consultancy based in Central London is looking for a Sustainability Consultant with 2-4 years of experience within the construction industry to join their growing team. In this role you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's commitment to sustainability and ensuring the successful completion of their projects.
The ideal candidate will hold a BREEAM Assessor qualification (NC or RFO) and will be open to expanding their sustainability knowledge. You will support the team in developing sustainability strategies and producing Whole Life Carbon Assessments, Circular Economy Statements and Sustainability Statements, as well as undertaking WELL and Fitwel Assessments across a range of different building use types.
This individual will be eager to further develop their knowledge around a wide range of sustainability practices and certifications. You will actively contribute to various projects with enthusiasm and a proactive mindset. Your role will involve working in a dynamic and collaborative environment where your can-do attitude and commitment to sustainability will help drive their projects to success.
About the role:
- Project Management: Under the direction of Senior Sustainability Consultants, manage and deliver projects from concept design to completion.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate sustainability principles, strategies, and best practices into all phases of construction projects.
- BREEAM (Required): Utilise your experience with BREEAM to support projects seeking BREEAM certification, helping to achieve sustainability targets and maximise performance.
- WELL Building Standard/Fitwel (Desirable): Apply your expertise as a WELL AP to guide projects through the WELL Building Standard certification process, ensuring the highest standards of health and wellness are met.
- Support the team in producing Whole Life Carbon Assessments, BREEAM LCA's and Carbon Optioneering Assessments.
- Develop and implement Circular Economy Statements and strategies to enhance resource efficiency.
- Prepare sustainability statements for planning applications and regulatory submissions.
- Assist in mentoring junior team members to assist in their learning and professional development.
- Provide education and training to project teams and stakeholders on sustainability practices and initiatives.
- Provide support to and work collaboratively with other members of the team including MEP.
About you:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., sustainability, environmental science, engineering, architecture).
- 2-4 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on sustainability.
- Proficiency and experience of BREEAM New Construction (2014 and 2018), BREEAM NDRFO, BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment is required.
- WELL AP (or Fitwell Ambassador) with proficiency and experience of delivering projects under the WELL Building Standard, is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of sustainability issues relating to the built environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Good working knowledge of UK sustainability (and relevant energy / carbon) policy frameworks and legislation, including The London Plan.
- Experienced in providing sustainability support and advice from early stages of design (RIBA Stage 1) through to project completion (RIBA Stage 6), and into building operation.
- Experienced in producing sustainability-related reports for a variety of audiences, including statements and supplementary information for planning applications.
- Knowledge/experience of WLCA and/or Circular Economy is beneficial but not required.
- Experience in producing Sustainability Statements for submission to Local Planning Authorities is beneficial but not required.
Work Environment
