Packaging Technologist
What will this role achieve?
This role will be based at our manufacturing site in Wigston to provide compliance data on packaging against authorised and documented methods, reporting to the Site SQSE (Safety, Quality, Security & Environment) Manager.
As a key member of the factory Quality and Compliance team, the Packaging Technologist will support the effective day-to-day management of packaging used on site; providing compliance data on packaging against authorised and documented methods and providing support for the improvement and maintenance of packaging quality standards.

What will be your key deliverables?
* Based upon an agreed packaging surveillance sampling schedule:
o Carry out compliance checks on printed packaging against specification, focusing on print Brand Master spectral targets.
o Capture and store trend data of spectral colour assessment in QA repository. Discuss and share trends with Senior Artwork Technical Manager.
o Sample and visually assess printed packaging against target Epson proofs for visual differences and print defects.
o Sample and assess packaging against specified specification parameters in accordance with the sampling standards and retailer requirements.
* Support the site with coding/calendar maintenance and data updates (e.g., MID).
* Authority to hold and release non-compliant defective packaging material for use in production.
* Review, make recommendations, and support the implementation of appropriate changes and preventative measures.
* Support continuous improvement through identification of areas for improvement, involvement in projects, and support in issue resolution.
* Support all KPI monitoring by collating data, C of A’s, and other information.
* Support issue investigations with escalation to SQSE Manager or request support from the Senior Artwork Technical Manager.
* Provide data for non-conformance documentation to suppliers and raise packaging material VNC’s.
* Maintain and store master standard packaging materials for retention.
* Act as a member of internal audit and traceability teams with initial focus on packaging quality compliance.
* Participate in all external audits and visits providing packaging technical data.

* Ability to work well in a team and under own initiative.
* Strong IT Skills.
* Ability to communicate concisely across multiple platforms.
* Ability to travel occasionally for supplier audits.
* Analytical skills.
* Needs to pass Munsell Colour Test.
* Any previous experience in quality or compliance.
* Food safety level 3.
* Lead Auditor Qualification.
