Project Manager (Civil Construction, Energy construction projects, Renewable Energy)
Location: Manchester / NW England
Salary range: £50,000 to £60,000 (neg) plus benefits (e.g. pension/ bonus), company car
Turner Lovell are recruiting for an international principal contractor who has a pipeline of major renewable energy and M&E projects across the UK. They are looking for an experienced Civil Project Manager with extensive civil construction experience to join their growing team leading projects from £10m- £20m in value. You would play a key part in developing the internal civil construction capability for the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage civil projects from £10m to £20m from design to construction completion
2. Manage commercial interfaces during procurement and subcontracting of civil works
3. Proactive management of large civil subcontractors
4. Manage key stakeholder interfaces between principal contractor, client, in-house teams, and subcontractors across the UK and Europe
5. Management of civil construction teams on site
6. Promotion and management of HSE and site-based standards
7. Manage financial budgets for the civil works on the projects and have sound input into forecasts
8. Provide regular ongoing reports on construction progress, budgets, manpower needs, and quality issues
9. Take a lead in resolving performance issues of internal or external teams
Candidate Specification:
1. Qualifications: BSc, BEng, HNC/HND or NVQ5 in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Project Management, or related subject
2. Proactive personality with excellent leadership and project management skills
3. At least 5 years working for a leading engineering, consulting, or civil contractor in the UK in a project management role
4. Extensive UK civil construction and civil engineering project experience at a respected contractor
5. Strong understanding of construction methodology and construction quality issues
6. Experience installing building services in construction projects
7. Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and HSE legislation
8. Proven ability to identify issues during the construction phase
9. Knowledge of commercial/contractual issues
10. Strong track record in managing civil subcontractors to stay on programme and budget
11. Excellent management experience with the ability to motivate teams and ensure health and safety is a high priority
12. Proven experience to work under pressure and make decisions independently
13. Good references to verify track record
