Net Zero Focused Leading International Contractor
Middlesbrough, England, United Kingdom
Our client is a privately owned high growth electrical and instrumentation contractor with a Blue-Chip customer base focusing on Net Zero projects such as wind farms, battery storage, biomass plants and carbon capture. With an unrivalled reputation for delivering excellence in everything it does, the business is driven by a deep-rooted passion for innovation and a commitment to quality to tackle complex challenges in industries that matter.
Given the growth trajectory of the business, the Founder/CEO is building a SLT to lead a PE investment into the company in the next 12 months. As such, there is a need to recruit a high calibre CFO, ideally with PE experience, to get the business investor ready and to drive the future performance of the business through that investment lifecycle and to exit. The requirement to recruit a commercially focused charismatic CFO who will bring strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to structure, process and the necessary building blocks that will need to be put in place to allow the business to scale through to exit will be paramount.
As a business partner to the CEO, you will be responsible for all financial matters relating to the business including the bank relationship, the recruitment, development and retention of the appropriate resource within the finance team as well as the ability to deliver transparency and visibility of business performance through commercial analysis, budget setting, financial controls, cost control, forecasting and monitoring KPIs. You will play a full part in M&A, integrations, business planning, strategy development and commercial input on new business projects, as well as developing robust financial models to allow the business to operate at its optimum efficiency through a period of substantial change. External relationships both banking and fund related will be optimum in a ‘no surprises’ environment once the investor is on board.
We are looking for a highly ambitious, energetic, qualified accountant with experience of operating as a standalone CFO in a PE backed, private or listed industrial contracting business, or a proven PE CFO who has led an exit in a £10m+ ebitda business ideally. You will have a demonstrable track record in the development and application of KPIs with excellent financial and management reporting skills. A strong operational understanding, you must be highly analytical in nature coupled with an informal and dynamic style, and a willingness to roll your sleeves up to get things done. You will have the desire and ability to add value whilst also challenging colleagues in an effective and appropriate way to facilitate good decision making. A real team player who can work effectively at all levels within the business with strong leadership and people development skills. You will be someone who likes to work at pace. The ideal candidate will have a track record in PE backed businesses with exit experience.
