Overview and Purpose of Role The Strategic Buyer will conduct a large scale audit, across multiple functions from Production Managers to Engineering, Quality, Sales, Health & Safety, Aftersales, in Dungannon & Newnan sites, to help achieve the best total overall cost for the business. They will develop a strategic plan to create win-win opportunities with our suppliers which ensures we are price competitive, with on-time delivery of direct material into the production facilities while maintaining the correct level of inventory to deliver key metrics on year targets. The role will involve clear project focus at a strategic level to help achieve objectives with the support of the senior leadership team. Main Duties and Responsibilities Conduct a audit for all Mallaghan spend worldwide & develop a strategic global buying plan to determine short, medium & long term wins in terms of best total overall cost for the business. Establish, managing and control the companys external suppliers and build and maintain a strategic relationship with these suppliers. Build strong relationship with other departments such as, Sales, Engineering, Production and Business Development. Evaluate the usage of new and existing material and their successful integration. Research and ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality and within a specified budget. Forecast levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs. Forecast price trends and impact on future activities. Create efficiencies within purchasing by carrying out the correct sock procedure and stringent material control to reduce spend, scrap, usage and inventory levels. Develop a supplier database for ongoing supplier management. Develop reporting and monitoring of purchasing to highlight savings achieved by supplier and evaluate supplier performance and concerns. Monitor competitor and potential competitor products and services. Continuously negotiate and agree supplier terms, monitor progress and check the quality of service provided and process payments and invoices. Identify new suppliers and agree terms and negotiate supply agreements. Ensure Anti-Bribery policy is embedded within the purchasing function. Adherence to our ISO 9001 Quality management system. Adherence to company health and safety procedures. Essential criteria: Will hold a degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics, Supply chain management or similar with 5 years experience gained in a supply chain or materials planning role.
