Job Summary
Acting as an expert resource for children, young people and their families and care givers, both lay and professional, on the treatment and nursing management of cancer, and facilitating the education of staff concerning paediatric oncology and symptom management in partnership with the oncology team.
Main Duties of the Job
* To facilitate provision of 24-hour care and treatment for all children and young people with cancer who require admission to hospital or specialist day care treatment.
* The postholder will provide nursing expertise in the specialist field of Paediatric oncology, working in partnership with internal and external agencies.
* To assess and identify each child's/young person's and their families' need for information, care and support throughout their cancer journey.
* To provide information about investigations, treatment modalities, treatment options and their implications.
* To act as a point of contact for the families of children and young people with cancer.
* To promote health through the preparation and empowerment of children/young people and their families.
