The Department of Mathematics at UCL is an internationally renowned department within one of the world’s most prestigious universities. The department has internationally recognised research groups in pure and applied analysis; fluid mechanics; mathematical physics; geometry and topology; algebra, number theory and combinatorics; mathematical modelling in biology, finance, industry and society.
About the role
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Course / Programme Administration:
o Process and co-ordinate Module Selection for the department.
o Assist Departmental coursework coordinator with coursework marks on Moodle.
o Co-ordinate start of session arrangements; registration of new students, collate welcome packs, safety booklets, timetables, and other necessary documentation.
o Provide administrative support for timetabling and ad hoc room bookings.
o Upload and maintain course/programme content on Moodle.
2. Examinations and assessment:
o Support exam-related tasks including processing final marks and producing mark sheets.
o Collect and accurately record coursework marks during the academic session.
3. Engagement monitoring - Operational:
o Work with staff to obtain attendance reports for students.
o Maintain records of in-course assessment.
4. Student support and pastoral care:
o Communicate proactively with students who miss engagement points.
o Attend regular meetings of the Departmental pastoral care team.
About you
Essential Qualifications, experience, and knowledge:
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (Including Mathematics and English Language or equivalent).
* Experience in administration in higher/further education or a teaching and learning environment.
* Familiarity with online learning environments.
Skills and abilities:
* Computer literate, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and databases.
* Clear verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to prioritise and organise workload proactively.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
