Who You Are We are looking for a person with proven experience at a senior level working with young people within a residential childcare environment. You should have a relevant qualification meeting the criteria for Social Care Wales registration alongside a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People). You possess excellent communication and organization skills, with knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and current legislative requirements. You understand budget monitoring and management systems, child development, and the needs of young people. You are skilled in assessments, working with Behavior support models, managing staff, and possess problem solving and decision making skills, all while maintaining a duty of care to safeguard and promote the interests of young people. What the job involves As Deputy Officer in Charge, you'll assist in managing and administering a new Children's Home, ensuring it meets all regulatory standards and delivers excellent care to children and young people, who may stay up to 12 weeks. You'll work to deeply understand their needs to secure suitable placements. Key responsibilities include ensuring young people receive services meeting all needs including social, medical, and psychological. You will empower young people to have a voice in their futures, build positive relationships with families, ensure community integration, and maintain staff professional competence. You will manage delegated budgets effectively, coordinate and chair meetings inclusively, and guide staff under the direction of the Manager.
