Job Title: UK Purchasing Manager, Multi-site
Location: Worksop, UK
We are seeking a dynamic Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement activities at our Worksop and Plymouth sites. This role involves ensuring optimal purchasing performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, saving & environmental targets, while managing a world-class supplier base. You will drive competitiveness throughout tenders and project phases, aiming for the best Total Cost of Ownership. Additionally, you will oversee indirect purchasing processes, ensuring compliance with Pandrol Maturity Index principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
* Define the optimal organisational structure and resource allocation.
* Conduct appraisals, training, and recruitment following Pandrol guidelines.
* Establish a governance framework for the department.
* Enhance internal processes and control measures.
* Foster team cohesion and collaboration.
Performance Management:
* Contribute to site performance metrics, including Sales, Cash, EBIT, and Order Intake.
* Ensure supplier performance across key metrics such as OTD, cost-saving and quality recovery.
* Oversee project execution for new developments, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
* Identify and pursue cost reduction opportunities through alternative suppliers and market insights.
Commodity Management:
* Collaborate with Global Commodity Managers to develop purchasing strategies for global commodities.
* Evaluate and optimize the supplier panel for each commodity to establish a world-class supplier network.
* Manage supplier relationships to ensure smooth delivery and avoid disruptions in production.
* Develop contractual agreements (supply framework agreements/SLA) with key preferred suppliers.
Non-Product Related Purchasing:
* Oversee all NPR spending at the site, ensuring it is managed effectively within the purchasing framework.
* Achieve cost reduction savings in NPR categories.
* Manage and monitor significant projects and CAPEX initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain preferred.
* CIPS or equivalent purchasing certification preferred.
* Proven experience leading a team of buyers.
* Strong technical purchasing skills, including cost analysis and negotiation.
* Expertise in Category Management and Project Management.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced ERP knowledge.
* Fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus.
* Willingness to travel between Worksop and Plymouth sites, as well as internationally when needed.
* Articulate, well-presented, and confident in communication.
