MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
* Maine DOE certification and appropriate licensure
* Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
* Possesses strong organizational skills
* Possesses conflict resolution skills
* Models standards for ethical and responsible behavior
REPORTS TO: Director of Instructional Support and Building Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Remain current in the field of speech/language.
2. Collaborate with Instructional Strategists and Special Educators to devise appropriate IEPs.
3. Develop goals and instruction that reflect an understanding of students’ cognitive, behavioral, and emotional needs.
4. Maintain a commitment to educating students with special needs in the least restrictive environment.
5. Establish routines and procedures that support student progress.
6. Use a variety of therapeutic techniques appropriate to student need.
7. Assess student growth consistently in relation to therapy goals.
8. Use ongoing assessment results to inform instruction.
9. Maintain accurate and up to date student records.
10. Communicate student progress to students, parents, and special educators.
11. Support students to understand their strengths and challenges.
12. Support students to provide input into the development for their IEPs.
13. Collaborate with parents and colleagues in preparation of IEP meetings.
14. Maintain compliance with IDEA procedure and timelines.
15. Seek opportunities to grow and develop professionally.
16. Participate in team meetings and contribute to team goals.
