We are excited to be working with a well-established engineering business, looking for a proactive and technically skilled Technical Sales Manager to manage internal sales, customer relationships, and quotations. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical engineering knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for sales.
Purpose of the Technical Sales Manager Role
The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for managing quotes and sales orders for existing customers, providing technical guidance, and ensuring efficient sales order processing. The role also involves supporting new business development and assisting in design engineering tasks where required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Technical Sales Manager
* Manage relationships with technical staff and buyers across the existing customer base.
* Provide technical advice to help customers refine their requirements and generate quotes.
* Process and track customer quotes, ensuring responses within 24 hours.
* Follow up on quotes to maximise conversion into sales orders.
* Verify and process sales orders efficiently, ensuring all necessary information is included.
* Support new business development, including customer visits, problem-solving, and prototype development.
* Assist with occasional design engineering tasks as required.
* Ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards, including quality and health & safety management.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the business.
* Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of any non-conformance reports (NCRs).
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
Knowledge and Experience Required
* Strong product knowledge in engineering, manufacturing, or technical sales.
* Good understanding of mechanical engineering and pneumatics.
* Sales expertise, including quoting, sales techniques, and conversion strategies.
* Experience in managing technical customer relationships.
* Hands-on experience in design engineering or fabrication (desirable).
* 10+ years’ experience in a technical role within an engineering business.
* Prior experience in a technical sales or customer-facing role.

Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
