Accounts Payable and Contract ANALYST
Birmingham OR Leeds based, QA Higher Education
Hybrid working – initial 6 months FTC
As Accounts Payable & Contract Analyst, you will be working with both our accounts payable team and management accounts team to assist us in meeting our key business objectives. You will be responsible for all areas of Agents payables modelling, data cleansing and VAT audit work amongst other areas.
Advanced Excel Knowledge & understanding of VAT rules is a must for our role. Occasional travel to Leeds or Birmingham required.
Your focus:
1. Preparation of bimonthly cashflow forecasts.
2. Work to improve accuracy of cashflow forecasts by understanding variance between forecast and actuals, re-modelling based on historic changes and updates to estimates of student numbers or terms.
3. Work with management accounts to improve accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations and improve accuracy of data used.
4. Work with management accounts, Agents payable team and FP&A to understand any gap between the estimated liabilities and calculated liabilities in the balance sheet reconciliation.
5. Track trends in agents’ payments such as payments by intake and territory, bonuses by intake and average commission percentages. Investigate variances to forecast.
6. Work with Agents payable team, management accounts and compliance to cleanse purchase ledger accounts and ensure set up is in line with approved contracts and VAT grouping is correct.
7. Work with Agents Payables team and Income to improve data quality for statement preparation. Track and report on where issues are occurring.
8. VAT audit work to ensure accounts and transactions show the correct VAT group in line with contracts and tax guidance.
9. Modelling of different payment scenarios.
Bring your experience:
1. Sound knowledge of accounting principles, compliance and auditing.
2. Advanced knowledge of Excel.
3. Ideally suited to a part qualified AAT/ACCA/CIMA/ACA accountant or degree in relevant finance subject and qualified by experience.
4. Experience building management reports and data modelling.
5. Experience dealing with large data sets and complex reconciliations.
6. Understanding of VAT rules.
7. Ability to understand contracts.
