With an expanding reputation and increasing workload, we now have a position available for a Trainee, with the possibility of training up to full Technician/Engineer. Work for clients is typically within a 2-hour travel distance but can occasionally be further afield with overnight stays required (Supplied). Travel to the site will be in a company vehicle and travel time from home will be paid as part of the working day. KEY DUTIES: The successful applicant will work alongside a Technician or Engineer on a daily basis. Time on site is typically from 8 am, for site induction, until 4.30 pm. Travel time to and from the site will depend on the location and will be in addition to on-site work hours. Typical working days can range from 8 to 14 hours on-site. Sharing of driving duties to and from the site in a company vehicle. General daily assistance and support to the Technician/Engineer. Preparing work area. Ensuring tools, materials, and test equipment are ready to use. Keeping work area clean and tidy. Keeping the vehicle clean and tidy. Ensuring consumable items are accounted for and stock kept at a suitable level. Mixing and pouring of epoxy resin to complete joints. Assist with Cable Fault Locations and Repair Assist with HV/LV Jointing Assisting/Learning the work and testing being conducted by the Technician and Engineers Acting in a Live Working Support Person role when the Technician is carrying out live cable jointing. Completing test forms and as-installed drawings and records. Other reasonable duties as required by the Technician, Line Manager, or Director. REQUIREMENTS: A full clean UK Driving License. Legal age to obtain authorisation as a ‘Competent Person’ for Live Working Support to comply with industry health and safety policy. A willingness to travel due to the nature and location of the company’s work. A willingness to stay away overnight when required for work further afield. Active engagement in the company safety policy and industry safety requirements to comply with the Health & Safety at Work etc Act and other UK laws. An enthusiastic approach to work and promoting the positive and professional reputation of the company at all times. An eagerness to learn and develop knowledge and experience, both in formal training and on-the-job mentoring. An ability to retain information in order to complete required industry competency assessments. The following items would be desirable but full training can be provided for applicants meeting the essential criteria fully: Jointers Mate/Craft Attendant course completed. Emergency First Aid at Work completed within the last 3 years. Holder of a valid CSCS or CSCS affiliated card, such as ECS or EUSR (SHEA Power). To progress as a Trainee Technician, the applicant would preferably need to possess electrical theory knowledge from having completed an electrical qualification, such as below or equivalent: City & Guilds 236 or 2360. City & Guilds 232 or 2320. City & Guild 2339. BENEFITS: Hourly Pay Rate to be negotiated based on previous experience and existing qualifications/training. Paid travel to and from work. Minimum 40 hours per week paid, with applicable travel/overtime paid in excess. 20 days paid holiday entitlement(Plus Bank Holidays). Enrolment in the company pension scheme. Use of company vehicle for travel to and from the site. Overnight accommodation expenses and meals are booked and paid directly by the company. Tools and PPE provided. Applicable training provided.
