Job summary The Professional Standards Manager and Lead Nurse for Professional Standards will be responsible for supporting the Head of Professional Standards through the coordination of UKHSA activity to meet responsibilities and requirements under legislation, regulation and UKHSA Quality Standards in professional standards. They will provide corporate and professional leadership and support to enhance UKHSA understanding, engagement and compliance in professional standards, and act as UKHSA Nurse Advisor for Professional Standards providing expert advice throughout UKHSA at national, regional and local level. The post holder will also coordinate and report on UKHSA responsibilities under the legal frameworks for employing registrants providing advice and support across the organisation. This post is being offered as a fixed term appointment until 31/3/2027 with a possibility that it may lead to a permanent position. Main duties of the job The postholder will work with the Head of Service to establish, monitor and continuously improve effective systems to ensure that UKHSA staff have the appropriate knowledge, competence and training to provide safe services, that professional standards work is monitored, and that good governance is in place. They will lead on the day-to-day management of these systems, including the production of routine monitoring reports. The postholder will be a Registered Nurse, based within the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Division (NMAHP) and reporting to the Head of Professional Standards. They will work closely with individuals, managers and clinical advisers across the organisation, including the medical revalidation lead, supporting them to manage day-to-day registration compliance activity and will support UKHSA Revalidation Committee.
