Job Title: Workshop Mechanic Job Type: Full-time Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per year Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with alternate Saturdays from 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM. About the Role: This family owned builders merchant are looking for a skilled and passionate Workshop Mechanic is required to maintain, service, and repair a variety of vehicles, machinery, and equipment. This role ensures everything runs smoothly and safely, reducing downtime and supporting the daily operations of the business. Key Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the fleet, including vans, lorries, forklifts, and plant equipment. Diagnose and fix faults in mechanical, electrical, engine, and hydraulic systems. Ensure all work meets safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and maintain accurate maintenance records. Assist with managing parts and materials for repairs. Work closely with other teams, offering technical support and assisting with customer repairs when needed. Maintain a clean, organised workshop and ensure tools are stored correctly. Skills & Qualifications: Essential: Proven experience as a mechanic, especially with vehicles and machinery. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, engines, and hydraulics. Skilled in diagnosing and repairing faults on a range of vehicles and equipment. Experience with hand and power tools, and a solid understanding of health and safety. Good organisational skills, able to work independently and as part of a team. Desirable: Formal qualifications in Mechanics or Engineering (or equivalent).
