Main duties of the job Main Duties of a Nursing Associate in Primary Care Clinical Responsibilities: Patient Assessments: Conduct clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels, temperature, and respiratory rate. Wound Care & Dressings: Perform simple wound care & dressings, and removal of sutures/clips. Chronic Disease Monitoring: Support management of long-term conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and hypertension through routine checks and patient education. Phlebotomy & Sample Collection: Take blood, urine, and swab samples for diagnostic testing. ECGs & Diagnostic Tests: Carry out electrocardiograms (ECGs) and other point-of-care tests. Administering Medications: Provide vaccinations, including child immunisations, flu vaccines, and other injections as required. Cervical Screening: Perform cervical smear tests in line with national screening guidelines. Health Promotion & Patient Education: Offer advice on smoking cessation, weight management, lifestyle changes, and self-care for long-term conditions. Team & Practice Support: Supporting the Nursing Team: Work closely with Practice Nurses and GPs to deliver high-quality care. Infection Control & Safety: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and follow infection prevention protocols.
