Job summary The Acute Oncology Service at NBT serves the needs of patients and their families with suspected and diagnosed cancer. Specifically, it is directed at patients over the age of 18 presenting with emergency or urgent complications of treatment, as well as those presenting with an undiagnosed cancer. Referred patients are triaged and treated by expert practitioners in order to improve the speed of decision making and to establish an effective and timely managed care pathway that could result in admission avoidance and the reduction of unnecessary distress and anxiety and result in timely treatment of symptoms. The Senior Enhanced Nurse Practitioner for Acute Oncology will work as an integral member of the Acute Oncology Service at NBT and will be responsible for assessing and assisting in the management of acutely unwell cancer patients, including Haematology patients with support from the Lead Nurse and clinical oncologists.
