Position Summary
This role will partner with other Designers and Project Engineers to produce detailed engineering designs for projects worldwide in accordance with company and client requirements and to strict project deadlines.
Summary of Applications: Pipe Freeze Protection, Process Temperature Maintenance, Tank Heating, Frost Heave Prevention, Instrument Heating, Tubing Bundles.
Key Role Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
1. Work with a multi-disciplined Proposal and Engineering team to produce professional, creative designs for a range of different projects. The role encompasses all activities associated with the execution of projects won by the company.
2. Produce detailed engineering designs and drawings of heat tracing and power distribution systems for European projects.
3. Understand technically in-depth Industrial Heat Solutions (IHS) product lines and relevant (Special) Applications for which they can be used.
4. Analyze customer provided data and develop technical solutions that exceed client expectations whilst enhancing chances of securing best Project Margin.
5. Interpret P&ID, line lists, plot plans, piping isometrics, piping plan drawings, piping/electrical/insulation specifications, and bill of materials.
6. Produce Heat Tracing designs and calculations using in-house design software.
7. Produce Heat Tracing drawings using AutoCAD.
8. Quantify and compare alternative solutions that can be presented as part of our submission to the client.
9. Provide technical support and follow-up of proposals/construction activities.
10. Be capable of carrying out the design and CAD activities within tight schedules and budgets.
11. Build and maintain effective working relationships with other functions such as Proposals, and Project Management, including other Worldwide offices.
12. Participate in development and improvement initiatives and undertake internal and external training and product awareness.
13. Willing and able to spend time away from “home office” at either client offices or other Chemelex locations.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Academic background in Design or Engineering, preferably Electrical.
2. Technical understanding of piping materials, components, valves, and familiarity with piping isometrics, P&ID’s, piping symbols as well as with electrical symbols and schematics.
3. Previous experience (preferred but not mandatory) in or with engineering activities obtained in a process environment (preferably within the Oil, Gas or Petrochemical / Power industries).
4. Knowledge of electrical power distribution, control and monitoring, piping, hazardous area classification (ATEX and IEC norms) is preferable.
5. Computer literate – able to utilize in-house design software packages, AutoCAD and proficient in a wide variety of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
6. Abilities to meet the physical and environmental requirements - be able to handle stress.
7. Full driving license preferred.

9. Accurate and systematic with experience to develop smooth designs.
10. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present and influence views in a clear and compelling manner.
11. Fluent in English language (oral and written).
12. Be a self-starter/self-motivated, detail oriented and a good communicator (both written and oral).
