ABOUT THE ROLE Wild Child Animation is expanding our CG Lighting team on a CG animated children's TV series for BBC that is mid-way through shot production. We are looking for a Junior CG Lighting Artist to join the team in March 2025. The role will involve developing lighting setups, adjusting shaders and rendering, whilst keeping consistency across a sequence. You will be working in Unreal Engine for this position. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Ideally 1-2 years' experience. Production experience is preferred but not essential. Strong knowledge and understanding of the animation pipeline Unreal Engine experienced is preferred but not essential. Ideally located regionally within the UK (outside the M25). For this role, priority will be given to those based in Scotland. In this role you will: Light 3D scenes to establish mood and support storytelling Develop lighting setups that can be used across a sequence of shots Receive and act on direction given by the lighting lead Match the established look and quality of existing shots Composite rendered CG elements and deliver final shots if required Assist in editing or creating shaders if required Clearly and regularly communicate with production management and Leads Adapt to new processes and technologies As a Junior, you will be responsible for: Having the ability to adapt an artistic style to suit the style of the production Developing an effective personal QC process and submit technically clean work as standard Showing effective communication skills Diagnosing simple creative and technical problems Autonomously managing workload and meet deadlines Being a Wild Child team player and asking for help when you need it. CONTRACT TYPE: This is a freelance contract, for 3 - 6 months starting in March 2025. LOCATION: R emote, hybrid or in-person at our studio in Stirling. HOURS : Our standard studio hours are 7 working hours a day (usually 10am to 6pm), Monday to Friday. We are open to discussing flexible working hours on an individual basis where this is possible in the production pipeline. STUDIO CLOSURES : Wild Child Animation is closed for 6 - 10 days over the December festive period 1- 2 days at Easter 2025 and 10 days for the last week in the Summer months - usually the first two weeks in August. These days are full studio closures so will not be invoice-able for freelancers.
