Environmental & Sustainability Analyst Role
London (Hybrid)
Are you passionate about sustainable development, environmental policy, and making a tangible impact across global markets? A leading financial institution is on the lookout for an Environmental & Sustainability Analyst to join their specialist ESG team. This is a unique opportunity to help shape sustainability efforts across high-impact investment projects in emerging markets.
The Role
As an Analyst, you’ll be an integral part of the organisation’s Sustainability team, supporting the implementation of environmental and social standards across a diverse investment portfolio. You’ll contribute to assessments, monitoring, and compliance assurance, ensuring that projects align with best practice frameworks related to climate, social, and environmental governance.
You’ll work across sectors, from infrastructure to energy and industry, contributing to the institution’s mission to promote environmentally sound and socially responsible development.
Key Responsibilities
* Support ESG risk and impact assessments during project development and implementation phases.
* Assist with monitoring, reporting, and verification of environmental and sustainability metrics.
* Conduct technical and policy research to support the organisation’s sustainability goals.
* Contribute to climate-related workstreams, including Paris Alignment and nature-risk assessments.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, under the guidance of senior team members.
* Aid in data collection, analysis, and process optimisation related to ESG performance.
* Provide support for sustainability-related meetings, events, and publications.
Ideal Profile
* A degree in environmental sciences, engineering, economics, social science, or a related discipline.
* Understanding of environmental and social risks across investment sectors.
* Familiarity with key international frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, TCFD, TNFD, and CSRD.
* Prior exposure to development finance, climate finance, or ESG policy is a plus.
* Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
* Fluent in English; additional languages spoken in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, or North Africa are advantageous.
* Team-oriented, adaptable, and capable of managing competing priorities effectively.
