About the role: As a School Care Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that pupils receive the personalised care and assistance they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Working closely with teachers, SEN coordinators and pastoral teams, you will support students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including autism, physical disabilities and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For: Provide tailored one-to-one and group support to students with SEND, ensuring their educational and personal care needs are met. Assist in implementing individual learning plans (ILPs) and behaviour support strategies, working collaboratively with teachers and SEN specialists. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting students’ independence and confidence. Support students with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting and mobility assistance, when required. Assist with classroom activities, adapting learning materials to suit the needs of pupils. Monitor students’ progress and well-being, providing feedback to staff and parents as necessary. Promote positive social interactions and emotional resilience through pastoral support. Ensure a safe and structured learning environment by following safeguarding and health & safety policies. The Successful Candidate Will: Previous experience in a care role (school, residential, or community-based) or experience working with children with SEND. A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Childcare, or a related field is desirable. Understanding of special educational needs, particularly concerning autism, speech and language difficulties and behavioural needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. A patient, empathetic and proactive approach to supporting young learners.
