Purchasing Administrator Annual Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 Location: Barking, Essex Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday We are seeking a Purchasing Administrator to join our Procurement team. This role is ideal for someone with solid experience in procurement, looking to further their career in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services to support our business operations. Day-to-day of the role: Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships, ensuring effective communication. Conduct supplier negotiations and place purchase orders, managing them to ensure timely delivery of goods/services. Manage the day-to-day operations of procurement databases, including supplier files, delivery notes, and supplier price lists. Participate in supplier selection, assessment, and rating processes. Plan and prepare forward import orders based on forecasted depot requirements, benchmarked against historical sales figures. Prepare cost analysis reports on procurement activities to aid decision-making. Assist the accounts department in posting invoices and lead the resolution of invoice/account discrepancies. Review and research market opportunities to assist in increasing sales margins and turnover. Undertake occasional travel to sites and supplier visits within the UK as required. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience within a procurement team, preferably with exposure to both ‘direct’ and ‘indirect’ spend categories. Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence, and challenge effectively. Excellent analytical, planning, and prioritising skills with a strong focus on detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Commercial and financial awareness. Valid full UK Driving Licence.
