Role
This post will lead the day-to-day operational delivery of Scottish Families national Helpline and ‘Click & Deliver’ take-home Naloxone service, along with supporting the delivery of our national Bereavement Support service. The role also involves partner/referral pathway development across Scotland to promote family support and harm reduction for anyone affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use.
The post will be based at Robertson House, Glasgow – Scottish Families’ national office. (Note that staff are currently working between home and office). This is a national post which includes some travel across Scotland. Due to the nature of this post, access to a car is essential. Hours worked will be in line with service delivery requirements, including evenings and occasional weekends when required.
The post will be part of the Scottish Families’ staff team and be supervised by the Senior National Family Support Practitioner. The post line manages and is supported by Helpline Support Workers (currently two posts, 2.0 FTE) and Helpline Volunteers.
The post-holder will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operational delivery of the Helpline, which is a single access point for information, signposting and listening support, and where appropriate a referral can be facilitated to Scottish Families local and national support services and to external partner family support services. The helpline encompasses multi-channel access including responding to inbound calls, emails, webchats, online website portal requests and providing outbound calls when callbacks requested. The role is responsible for fulfilling Click and Deliver naloxone requests, naloxone reporting, delivering overdose awareness and naloxone training, and maintaining and sharing knowledge about emerging drug trends and harm reduction. The post also includes supporting the delivery of our national Bereavement Support Service, which provides listening support and information to anyone aged 16+ who lost someone through a drug-related or alcohol-related bereavement. The service also facilitates access to accredited counsellors across Scotland who provide a programme of bereavement counselling. Finally, the role involves developing and maintaining partner/referral pathways across Scotland.
We are seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent professional qualification/experience; with experience of providing listening support via telephone, webchat and online chat methods, and providing support in a health and social care, mental health, substance use or trauma support service/organisation. Candidates should have experience of line management and team support, whilst experience of naloxone ‘train the trainer’ training is an advantage. Applicants should have knowledge of issues for families affected by substance use and bereavement, as well as drug and alcohol awareness. It is helpful to have knowledge of emerging substance use trends and harm reduction. We are seeking an excellent listener with strong organisational skills and the ability to support individuals from diverse demographics.

What will you do as Community and Events Fundraiser?
This role is part of SAMH's dynamic Income Generation department, which plays a vital role in driving the financial growth and sustainability of the organisation. Reporting to the Community and Events Fundraising Manager, the Community and Events Fundraiser is a pivotal role, responsible for driving income generation by maximising community fundraising within the East of Scotland. The post holder will do this through the development of excellent local relationships, creating opportunities to give, and positioning SAMH as the charity of choice within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising and Income Generation: Identify and develop local fundraising opportunities, exceeding income targets by promoting community participation and securing support from various groups.
Supporter Engagement and Stewardship: Build and manage lasting relationships with supporters, delivering excellent stewardship experiences through personalised communication and effective engagement.
Community Event Management: Organise and attend local events, representing SAMH to raise awareness, build partnerships, and maximise fundraising potential.
Volunteer Development: Recruit, manage, and motivate volunteers, encouraging their active involvement in community fundraising events and initiatives.
Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate supporter records on the CRM system, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and producing detailed reports.

* Demonstrable success in building effective relationships with people.

* Understanding of and commitment to involving volunteers in community fundraising.
* Proven experience of working to and exceeding income or engagement targets.

* Understanding of current legislation, policies and issues affecting fundraising and the charity sector including GDPR.

Are you a creative and motivated individual with the passion and drive to support people with a recent diagnosis of dementia to live well in their community?
If so, you can be part of a National Team of Post Diagnostic Support Link Workers (PDS Link Workers) providing high-quality, person-centred support to people living with dementia and their families for a minimum of a year following diagnosis in line with the Scottish Government’s minimum guarantee.
The aim of the PDS National Service is to enable people to live well with dementia and is centred around Alzheimer Scotland's 5 pillar model so that people move on to a period of supported self-management.
The model includes understanding the illness and coming to terms with the diagnosis, peer support, connecting and maintaining links with their community along with planning for future care and decision making to develop an outcome focused plan to support their future hopes, desires and aspirations.
Supporting our Skye and Lochalsh Highland locality, the post will be based within the Community Mental Health Team at Tigh Na Drochaid Resource Centre, Portree. Alzheimer Scotland’s PDS Link Workers are required to be effective team workers and have the skills to build and maintain relationships with colleagues both within Alzheimer Scotland, the NHS and other stakeholders.
Skills in using digital platforms are essential as we use a blended approach to support people that involve some virtual meetings and online groups.
Applicants must hold a recognised relevant professional qualification, have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects people and their families along with excellent communication skills, a warm flexible approach, combined with skills in empathy and relationship building.
In addition, you should have skills and knowledge at the Enhanced Level of the Promoting Excellence Framework or be able to evidence you are working towards its completion.

The Centre Manager will lead and manage a team providing Alzheimer Scotland’s programme of support for people concerned about their brain health or affected by dementia. We are looking for someone who has strong networking skills and experience of collaborating and developing partnerships both internally and externally.
Line management responsibilities for staff within the Centre is an expected part of the role, including development and supporting a network of volunteers.
