Description We are currently recruiting for an Events Planning Executive to work within the Events team here at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, Edinburgh. Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels. As the largest 5 star hotel, we also have the biggest banqueting and meeting facilities of any hotel in Edinburgh with a capacity of up to 500; our One Square Restaurant and Bar and the award winning ONE SPA. This position has responsibility to handle and manage groups and events from the contract stage to the event itself ensuring we maximize revenue & utilization of meeting space and working to ensure, at a minimum, delivery of budgeted revenues. Our ideal candidate must demonstrate high energy levels and must take responsibility in providing consistently high levels of customer service, in accordance with Sheraton European Standards & Programmes. Ideally you will already have experience in dealing with event planning in a high end environment and a passion to make a difference. We have the largest conference and banqueting facilities within a hotel in Edinburgh and the facilities to host an array of different styles of event from conferences, private dinners, weddings and charity balls. The minimum pre-requisites for this position are that the candidate has the following qualities: Must be a Team Player – the Events team relies on all departments to ensure we deliver the service promise. Applicant must demonstrate an ability to develop a strong working relationship with others by being fair, open, reliable and consistent. An element of coaching the event planning team will also be required, sharing your skills and knowledge. Great Communication skills - Must have an ability to effectively communicate verbally with all colleagues, clearly stating ideas and strategies. Multi-task Master- Must have an ability to manage multiple events and clients at once giving outstanding customer service along the way. Own their own workload and support the team as required. Essential Computer Skills - Knowledge of Opera is preferred, Microsoft Word and Excel is essential and you must be able to type Must have the ability to sell and promote the hotel as well as a proactive approach to dealing with our business demands Experience with Opera Sales and Catering would be ideal So why work for the world’s largest hospitality company?
