About the Role
The Housing Team Area Manager will be responsible for providing a highly professional customer focused housing management service to Hightown’s residents in rented accommodation and to housing applicants.
The duties will include managing a team of staff who are responsible for taking appropriate action on breaches of tenancies, including anti-social behaviour, ensuring that tenants are able to become involved in the management of their homes, and working in conjunction with the Income Recovery and Lettings team to ensure that general needs properties are let in a timely manner and that appropriate action is taken to deal with arrears of rent and charges. The Housing Team Area Manager will seek to deliver an excellent level of service in the context of changing residents’ needs, regulatory requirements and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To manage and motivate a team of Officers to provide high quality customer-oriented services and to oversee the line management of a team of administration level staff.
2. To provide direction and support to the team, setting improvement targets and undertaking regular supervisions and appraisals in line with Hightown’s staff management practices.
3. To chair Hightown’s Complaints Scrutiny Group, ensuring that recommendations are forwarded to the Head of Housing for consideration.
4. To assess tenancy review recommendations made by Officers, and make decisions regarding the future of the tenancy where applicable.
5. To oversee tenancy enforcement case work, and represent Hightown in court where required.
6. To support the Head of Housing in working with residents to develop and monitor Hightown’s Local Arrangements to meet the Regulator’s standards.
7. To represent Hightown at liaison meetings with local authorities and other bodies as appropriate.
