Job summary
To be responsible for the accurate and timely processing ofprescription requests for the entitled population, liaising effectively withall relevant personnel. Duties can include but are not limited to, the processingof repeat prescriptions in electronic and hard copy format, including onlinerequests. In addition, the post-holder will be required to support themultidisciplinary team, ensuring the strategic objectives of the practice aremet.
Its a bank position with flexible working hours as perduty rota.

Job responsibilities
Process repeated prescription requests receivedby phone, email, post, slips and the online access system, in accordance withpractice protocol.
Produce prescriptions for the GP to sign in anacceptable timeframe.
Ensure all prescription requests are processedand are ready for collection within a 48-hour timeframe.
Generate requests for medication on behalf ofthe patient for non-repeat items.
Actively encourage patients to reconcilemedications to facilitate monthly collections.
Discuss with patients their requirements,encouraging patients to order only what they require.
Act upon compliance issues, liaising with theappropriate clinician.
Ensure medication reviews are arranged bymaintain an accurate recall system.
Effectively liaise with external services district nurses to ensure medicaments are arranged for housebound patients
Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary.
Deal with all prescription related enquiries ina timely manner
Record and reported adverse effects accuratelyand appropriately, informing the practice manager immediately.
Read code data on EMIS.
Carry out system searches as requested.
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working areaat all times.
In addition to the primary responsibilities, theprescription clerk may be requested to:
Support the practiceclinical pharmacists as required.
Partake in audit asdirected by the audit lead.
Support the DeputyPractice Manager in reviewing and updating the practice prescribing policy.
Complete opening andclosing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
