Let Informed Recruitment help you achieve your potential with an exciting opportunity for a Head of Building Surveying to provide consultancy services to a range of customers as part of a growing housing, construction, technical services, and asset management services consultancy. This permanent role is offered on a hybrid working basis.
The objective of the role will be to work with an experienced technical services team to deliver a wide range of progressive project work whilst helping to successfully execute property assets and construction projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
1. Developing the most appropriate pricing method and models for projects and frameworks;
2. Quality checking cost models;
3. Providing cost estimates prior to procurements;
4. Maintaining a register of benchmark prices;
5. The creation, review, and critique of contract documentation;
6. Preparing tenders, bill of quantities, work schedules, specifications, and schedules of rates;
7. Understanding and undertaking duties in relation to CDM regulations;
8. Identifying and mitigating risk;
9. Keeping abreast of relevant legislation and market news;
10. Acting as a driven member of an in-house consultancy team committed to delivering high quality and cost-effective solutions to customers.
Must Have:
1. An exceptional track record in the construction industry, with commercial experience of pre and post contract Quantity Surveying.
2. Experience of construction and commercial Project Management in new developments, redevelopments, maintenance, and other forms of construction to include CDM Regulations, and Health & Safety.
3. Experience of working with the Social Housing sector, either directly or with a supplier, covering Asset Management, Construction, and Technical Services.
4. Experience of writing and working with Complex Building Specifications & Pricing Models, as well as technical specification development, legal & contractual documentation, and construction service contracts.
5. Experience of Property Maintenance, Decent Homes, and Property Defects & Remediation.
Nice to Have:
1. Experience of managing procurement projects for construction or asset management.
2. Experience of the legal regulatory framework around housing maintenance.
3. Detailed experience of residential development in the affordable housing sector.
4. Preparing and delivering business plans and projects in pre-construction.
5. A relevant subject matter degree, HNC, or certifications, and/or certification in a related discipline such as CIOB, RICS, CIAT.
As an individual, you will be an excellent communicator, adept at liaising at all levels with a variety of stakeholders. You will also be highly analytical with a keen eye for problem solving and meticulous record keeping. This role is hybrid based, split 50/50 between time spent working from home, an office in central Birmingham, and travel to customer sites for which you will receive an essential car users’ allowance and costs catered for.
