Governance Assistant
Location: Lancaster (Carlisle considered)
Salary: £25,138 with incremental progression to £28,759

The Role
They have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Information Governance Assistant to join their team at the University. Working closely with the Information Governance Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the institution adheres to key legislation, including the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
This role is ideal for someone looking to move into or grow in the field of Information Governance, offering hands-on experience with crucial compliance work and the chance to interact with a range of stakeholders.
You will work with colleagues across the organisation responding to incoming information requests. Your role will also involve supporting the continuous development and implementation of Information Governance practices, including addressing personal data breaches, responding to staff queries, and maintaining up-to-date policies, publications, and registers.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Educated to RQF Level 3 (A Level, Scottish Higher or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
2. Previous experience in a relevant role dealing with administrative and information management systems.
3. An awareness of data protection/privacy issues (DPA, UK GDPR, and FOIA) and the ability to update and develop relevant knowledge and skills.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Work with discretion in the handling of sensitive personal data.
6. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload to ensure deadlines and targets are met whilst ensuring high attention to detail.
7. Knowledge of relevant IT packages, information systems and procedures, with the ability to adapt/transfer skills to use new technology, including development and maintenance of websites (e.g., Office 365).
