Quality Assurance
1. Location: Redditch, UK
2. Working Hours: Afternoons (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Monday – Friday)
3. Salary: £30,446 per annum
Role Overview
As part of the Quality Assurance team, you will play a key role in maintaining high factory and product standards through internal auditing, monitoring, and reporting on food safety, legality, and quality. Your focus will be on ensuring that products, processes, and the factory environment comply with technical systems, identifying non-conformances, driving improvements, and preventing recurring issues .
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance
4. Conduct internal audits in GMP, CCPs, Label and Date Coding, Traceability, Hygiene, Fabrication, Product Quality, Documentation, and Production Processes .
5. Ensure full documentation of audits and communicate findings effectively, including root cause analysis and corrective actions .
6. Investigate food safety, quality, or legality issues, tracing product history and reporting findings to management.
7. Maintain compliance with third-party audit standards and customer codes of practice .
Equipment & Process Control
8. Oversee and manage the Olympus Auto Verification System, Metal Detectors, and Check Weighers, ensuring proper setup before production.
9. Provide technical support for equipment validation, troubleshooting, and compliance checks .
Issue Resolution & Investigations
10. Lead investigations into out-of-specification results, customer complaints, and foreign body contamination (e.g., metal, glass damage ).
11. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence .
12. Issue and manage non-conformance reports, concessions, and hold notifications, ensuring timely resolution of quarantined goods.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
13. Support the validation of new processes and ensure a smooth transition during product and process trials .
14. Work cross-functionally to reduce customer complaints and enhance product quality .
15. Act as the first point of contact for quality-related concerns in day-to-day factory operations.
16. Ensure clear and effective handover between shifts to maintain consistency in quality standards.
Training & Compliance
17. Provide guidance and support to QA Technicians, covering their responsibilities when needed.
18. Ensure full compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements .
19. Participate in internal and external audits, serving as a key member of the audit traceability team .
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
20. Audit Compliance: Completion rate of scheduled QA audits.
21. Regulatory Compliance: Adherence to third-party and customer audit standards .
22. Equipment Accuracy: Minimized errors in Metal Detectors, Check Weighers, and Olympus systems .
23. Hold/Quarantine Management: Timely resolution of non-conforming products.
24. Investigation Turnaround: Completion of root cause investigations within the required timeframe.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
✔ Minimum 2 years of experience in a food industry production, QA, or technical role .
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) .
✔ Food Safety Level 2 qualification or higher.
✔ Internal auditing experience .
✔ Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
➤ Experience in a high-care food manufacturing environment .
➤ Higher education in Food Quality, Food Safety, or a Science-related field .
➤ Foundation-level HACCP certification .
➤ Formal Internal Auditor training .
