Role description:
We are seeking an Intermediate Laboratory Technician to enhance our Coloration QC team at Colorifix. The role will involve performing tests and evaluating colour on textiles dyed using Colorifix technology to ensure new products meet all quality requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Assessing the quality of Colorifix products
2. Following Standard Operating Procedures to perform routine laboratory work
3. Performing colour fastness testing on dyed samples
4. Colour evaluation of bulk samples
5. Troubleshooting textile/dyeing related issues
6. Produce high quality records and reports
7. Using databases to schedule work and manage results
8. Management of fabric samples
9. Cross divisional communications including presentations
Essential skills and Experience:
1. Degree in a relevant scientific or textile discipline
2. Minimum 1-2 years experience in either a laboratory setting or quality assurance of textiles
3. Good organisational skills with high attention to detail
4. Able to follow standard operating procedures.
5. Good communication skills and ability to work as a flexible team player that is committed to the success and positive dynamic of the team
6. Ability to navigate databases and confidence with using computers
7. An interest in textiles or natural dyeing
8. Able to pass colour discrimination testing.
9. Knowledge of good laboratory safety practice.
Desirable skills and experience:
1. Experience using spectrophotometer software for textiles
2. Knowledge of ISO 105 and AATCC colour fastness methods
3. Experience with Notion
4. Knowledge of colour theory, or an interest with willingness to undertake further training
5. Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving
Title: Intermediate Laboratory Technician
Reports to: Coloration QC Lead
Location: Norwich Research Park, Colney Lane, Norwich
Remuneration: annual salary of £26-28,000 depending on level of experience.
