• As a major food manufacturing company, your role as a multi-skilled Operations Engineer will involve a hands-on approach to carrying out breakdowns, planned maintenance, and project work.
• Ensure products manufactured are safe, legal, and comply with customer quality standards.
• Adhere to all Company Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and industry standards.
• Strive to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) by reducing breakdowns of factory machinery.
• Submit continuous improvement ideas focused on reducing downtime and waste.
• Maintain accurate data input and recording for compliance and analysis.
• Lead a team of multi-skilled engineers.
• Ensure high standards of communication and working relationships between teams.
• Monitor and communicate the performance of the planned maintenance system.
• Work cross-functionally to develop efficient equipment and processes.
• Promote design for manufacture in equipment modifications.
• Investigate innovative methods to improve performance and energy savings.
• Support root cause activities in problem-solving and process improvement.
• Ensure maximum optimization of machines through engineering CI.
• Support Autonomous Maintenance.
• Ensure adherence to production specifications and quality standards.
You must comply with Rich Products Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Critical:
• At least 5 years’ experience in Reliability/Production in an FMCG manufacturing/packing environment.
• Strong Electrical/Mechanical/Pneumatic understanding with ability to ensure full RCAs.
• Experience in using CI and lean principles for improvements.
• Ability to read and update Electrical/Mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of H&S legislation (e.g. LOLER, PUWER, Electricity @ works regulations, COSHH).
• PLC technology and programming (Siemens/Mitsubishi).
• Completed a recognized training program (e.g., apprenticeship or graduate scheme).
• Level 3 certification in electrical/mechanical engineering.
• Qualified in 18th Edition IEE regulations.
• Competent user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in leading small teams within an FMCG/Food environment.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (Shire or SAP).
• Experience with TPM/RCM/RCA principles for driving performance improvements.
• Fabrication experience (including welding).
• Installation of electrical supplies and distribution in industrial environments.
• Understanding of Lean tools and techniques.
• IOSH qualified.
• ONC/HNC qualified.
