About the role
You will play a key role in supporting children and families.
You will manage qualified and unqualified workers, with a focus on maintaining the highest professional standards through regular formal and informal supervision of staff. You will act as a mentor for colleagues and take a lead in the induction of new staff. You will be expected to lead and develop areas of work within the team.
You will stay up to date with relevant legislation, law and best practice and we continue to develop continued professional development via excellent training opportunities.
You are an experienced front-line children's social worker who is committed to working alongside the team manager to provide support for the Social Workers and Child Social Care Assessors in a fast-paced and supportive environment.
You are free-thinking and confident in decision making which will be demonstrated in your excellent management oversight on referrals received by the team.
You will be supportive and passionate to assist the manager to develop a high-performing team, and to support in the development of staff to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
You will have advanced communication skills, you will be experienced in chairing meetings and previous experience of managing complex cases.
The Leaving Care Team works with care experienced children and young people aged between 15-25. We focus on effective transition for young people between the ages of 15 and 18 through pathway planning to support and develop confidence, and life skills to negotiate the opportunities and challenges of adulthood. Ensuring accommodation needs are carefully considered so young people feel secure and their wishes around location are respected so they can maintain relationships with people who are important to them.
Working alongside another Assistant Team Manager you will be responsible for supervising Social Workers and Personal advisors to support Looked after children and young people leaving care.
