With demand for our services growing significantly, we are expanding our Talking Therapies provision to better serve children and young people (CYP). About the Role We are seeking a Talking Therapy Counselling Assessor – Children and Young Persons to play a key role in our Talking Therapies service. Reporting to the Talking Therapies Service Manager, you will be responsible for assessing CYP counselling referrals, determining suitable therapy duration and modality, and ensuring a smooth client journey through the service. You will liaise with key stakeholders, including therapists, supervisors, learning establishments, and external partners, ensuring efficient service delivery and a high-quality experience for all clients. This post is part time working 20 hours per week between Monday and Friday Key Responsibilities Conduct initial assessments for CYP referrals, determining appropriate therapy type and duration Manage and review the waiting list for the CYP Counselling Service Book counselling service assessments and input/update information on CRM systems Liaise with parents/caregivers to negotiate session fees Work closely with the Counselling Service Administrator regarding bookings and fee agreements Collaborate with the Counselling Team, Supervisors, and Talking Therapies Service Manager Support in allocating CYP clients to therapists Participate in recruitment interviews for new counsellors/therapists Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders and learning establishments Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and ensure compliance with best practices About You Diploma or Degree in Counselling/Therapy (specialising in Children & Young Persons) Over 450 post-qualification counselling hours Member of BACP/BACP CYPF/UKCP or other relevant governing body Safeguarding qualification to Level 3 Experience of working within a counselling service and conducting CYP assessments Strong understanding of local mental health services and referral pathways Excellent IT, written, and verbal communication skills Empathetic, patient, and able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
