Band 7 - Service Manager in Urological services
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Nephrology, Urology and Renal Transplant Division at the Royal Free. The role will provide operational support to the clinical service of Urology, a fast-paced and dynamic service, requiring the candidate to build close working relationships with our clinicians and administrative teams.
The successful applicant will take a leading role in the urology cancer services (Bladder, Prostate & Kidney Cancer), focusing on the delivery of the service's cancer recovery plan.
The role will provide the successful candidate a breadth of experience managing both benign and cancer services in a high volume surgical speciality, delivered across all three main RFH hospital sites; Barnet, Chase Farm and the Royal Free.

Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities
* To manage administrative and support teams within the service / directorate
* To support clinical teams within the department
* Deliver appraisal and mandatory training requirements for all staff within these teams
* Lead the directorate performance management systems ensuring that Trust and monitor standards are understood and adhered to and that performance reports are produced to enable divisional compliance
* Support the governance arrangements within the directorate including audit, complaints, incidents, risk and health and safety.
* To be responsible to the Assistant Operations manager for financial performance relating to delegated budgets and operational performance of the service / directorate
* Represent the operations managers as required

Qualification
* Minimum of 1st degree or equivalent
* Evidence of continuing personal development
Experience
* Significant demonstrable experience of working in the NHS in a junior management position
* Demonstrative experience of staff management and leading a team
* Budget management experience including monitoring expenditure and identifying savings
* Introducing new ways of working
* Project management
* Experience and familiarity with business planning and preparation of business cases
Skills and Knowledge
* Understanding of national NHS policy and targets.
* Good interpersonal, oral and written skills including chairing team meetings, writing reports.
* Knowledge of Cerner / hospital IT systems/word processing/Microsoft office suite
* Numerate, with excellent analytical skills/ability to understand and produce statistical information to use in problem solving
* Ability to negotiate with and influence staff at all levels
* Ability to manage time/priorities
