As Head of Fundraising and Communications at Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland, you will be leading our work to generate the £1.4 million needed to deliver our lifeline groups and one-to-one support services each year.
You will be developing and delivering strategies to bring out the joy in doing good with our supporters, inspire people to join our cause and access our services.
This is an exciting time to be joining the charity with a new five-year strategy to be launched in April, setting out ambitious plans to invest in growing the charity’s impact and income.
We are looking for a creative thinker, with a proven track record in developing and delivering successful fundraising and supporter engagement strategies. You will have a passion for leading by example, pitching in where necessary and getting the best out of your team and supporting them to develop.

The suitable candidate will lead our Central, Edinburgh & The Lothians and New Struan School Residence teams with a mixture of Care Home, Care at Home, Day, Housing Support and Outreach Support Services. You will have a relevant professional qualification in a related discipline and management experience. You will be responsible for overseeing the services provided within these areas and as such will be an effective leader, coach, communicator, negotiator with the ability to influence and challenge, building strong relationships across multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring advanced autism practice. Experience of Children’s services would be advantageous.

As a member of our Board, you will be instrumental in guiding the strategic future of the charity and ensuring exemplary governance and fiscal control. The main Board meets four times a year and board members will be expected to be a member of one of the sub committees. You will also act as a local ambassador for Cornerstone.
We are keen to hear from those with skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas who feel they can make a positive contribution to our charitable activities:
* Senior management experience in the social work / social care sector preferably with strategic planning skills
* Accountancy/financial experience preferably at management level
* Personal experience of providing care and support of a relative or carer of a person who has experience of care

The person
You will have the right level of personal qualities, experience, knowledge and qualifications, demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and high levels of emotional intelligence, with experience of managing people, supporting staff development and promoting a positive culture. You will be an excellent communicator, highly organised with a collaborative approach to working with others to deliver shared objectives and drive continuous improvement in our practice. You will have a high-level knowledge and understanding of dementia and substantial experience in the management and delivery of services and hold a relevant practice qualification to meet the Scottish Social Services Council registered management requirements.
