Senior Proposal Manager - Automation
Location: Warrington
Our client, a leading engineering and maintenance provider based in Warrington, is looking for a Senior Proposal Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.
The purpose of this role is to carry out proposal and estimating activities for single and multi-discipline proposals to support the UK business strategy and to help maintain an up-to-date body of knowledge for proposals while supporting junior members of the proposal team.
Main Responsibilities
1. Carry out proposal and estimating activities.
2. Take full responsibility for assigned proposals, leading and managing to deliver high-quality proposals in a timely manner that reflect agreed strategies and comply with relevant procedures.
3. Lead large single-discipline proposals and medium complexity multi-discipline proposals.
4. Responsible for all aspects including estimate/costing, price, technical and commercial submission documents, contractual reviews, and approvals.
5. Actively seek relevant input from others required to develop proposals, recognizing strengths and weaknesses of self and others.
6. Work with operations to develop and agree execution concepts.
7. Obtain third-party (subcontractor/vendor) input as appropriate.
8. Ensure all work is compliant with company procedures.
9. Initiate checks and reviews to ensure quality of work.
10. Actively liaise with clients for information, clarifications, site visits, negotiations, and feedback.
11. Proactively support proposals managed by others.
12. Provide estimation and execution inputs.
13. Support proposal strategy development.
14. Carry out reviews and checks of proposal work by others.
15. Work in a structured and organized way and support others in this.
Act as Bid Manager reporting to the UK Proposals Manager or Head of Proposals for specific assigned proposals.
Maintain Body of Knowledge
1. Responsible for developing and maintaining a clear and reasoned set of norms relevant to discipline as part of the overall proposal department information.
2. Maintain knowledge of relevant current technology, standards, and execution approaches.
3. Support development of proposal tools (e.g., estimating tools, procedures).
Support Others
1. Provide coaching to others on estimating techniques.
2. Support junior team members in planning and managing proposals.
3. Review proposals and provide constructive feedback.
Experience & Qualifications
1. 10+ years proposal and estimating experience (or similar).
2. Experience includes contracting in areas such as oil & gas, nuclear, utilities, and power.
3. Expected to be degree qualified in an appropriate engineering or numerical discipline, or suitably experienced through working in the relevant discipline.
