Job summary We are looking to recruit an Advanced Phlebotomists to expand our team working across at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital, Southend University Hospital and other local community clinics throughout South Essex. This role is ideally suited for someone who is experienced, caring, friendly and would like to be a part of a team that contributes towards patient care. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work and communicate with a large team across multiple sections. Main duties of the job As a Phlebotomist you will be taking blood samples from patients for all our pathology services ensuring correct order of draw, and safe specimen handling using the appropriate PPE. To be able to book patients in the phlebotomy clinic software Swiftqueue. To become familiar with all tests and precautions associated with the collection of blood samples for all pathology disciplines. Ensure as far as possible, that all the information on the request form is correct and any problems are resolved in a timely manner according to the department policies and procedures. Know the department and Trust procedure for dealing with patients who become unwell or faint during venepuncture and carry out basic life support. Checking and maintaining stock of consumables to ensure the smooth running of the service in the clinic area. Observe and maintain clean and tidy working environment at all times.
